Listen Online

As we enter a new season of gatherings at The Kalen Center, we begin a series as a way of rooting and re-orienting ourselves in the way of our Rabbi, Jesus. We’ll reflect on the way and work of this people at The Parish, and how we might respond to Jesus’ invitations from Matthew 11: Come to Me, Walk with Me, Work with Me, Watch How I Do It.

Guiding Scriptures

Matthew 7:13-17; 24-27
“But the gate that leads to life is narrow and the road difficult, so few people find it. Everybody who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise builder who built a house on bedrock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the wind blew and beat against that house. It didn’t fall because it was firmly set on bedrock. But everybody who hears these words of mine and doesn’t put them into practice will be like a fool who built a house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the wind blew and beat against that house. It fell and was completely destroyed.”

Matthew 11:28-30
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Practice the Way

In light of Jesus’ statement that there are two ways before us, how might we intentionally craft a liturgy for our lives that leads us down the narrow way? Jesus says it is those who not only hear his words but also put them into practice who find themselves rooted in the storm. What does it look like for you to practically come to Jesus?
