Parish Family Ministry | November

Thank you to everyone who came for our Family Worship service and Trunk-or-Treat festival on Sunday. A HUGE thanks to those of you who decorated trunks and passed out candy to all our little trunk-or-treaters. Y’all came strong, and our kids appreciate it!

And then we blinked, and it’s November! As we turn our sights toward Thanksgiving, here’s what we’ll be talking about in Parish Kids.

PRESCHOOL :: No surprises here–This month we’re learning about gratitude, specifically, being thankful for people who help us. Our memory verse is Ephesians 5:20, “Always give thanks to God.” We’ll talk about how Aaron helped Moses (Exodus 17:8-13) and how Nehemiah built a wall with lots of help from others (Nehemiah 1-6).

ELEMENTARY :: Honor means letting someone know you see how valuable they are, and our elementary kids will be focusing their attention on this virtue in November. We’ll learn about Samuel anointing David as Israel’s future king (1 Samuel 16:1-13) and about David’s friendship with Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-9, 19:1-7, 20:1-42). We’ll also study Romans 12:10, “Love one another deeply. Honor others more than yourselves.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL :: Our students are going through the “Judgement Call” series this month. We’ll talk about assuming the best before we judge others, and looking to God before we judge ourselves, realizing He is always for us. Our lenses for judgement are flawed, so it’s important for us to apply God’s lenses to be able to see clearly.

The Parent Cue is a way to help you interact with your kids around these topics. Visit the website, download the app, or pick up a printed version at The Parish this Sunday.

COMING UP

Join us for our annual Parish Family Thanksgiving on November 20 at 11:30am! We’ll spend time together over a hearty potluck table, giving thanks to God for His goodness and faithfulness to us. More details will follow, but mark your calendars now for this memorable day.

Also, we will not hold worship services on November 27. Enjoy the last day of Thanksgiving break with your family!
