Elements from this morning’s gathering
Call to Worship
We find the mighty God in the most unlikely places.
An empty tomb,
an infant in a stable.
Today, may we find him afresh, slipping through the unexpected doors of our lives.
Come, Lord Jesus,
Come.
Amen.
Prayers of the People
As we pause here to pray, we’ll center our prayers around the Advent themes that will shape our gatherings.
Lord, we lift up to you our human need and hunger for hope. We think about the places and people we know in need of hope. We hold them up before you. Come thou long expected Jesus.
Now take a moment to lift up your prayers for a person or situation in need of Jesus’ hope…
Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
Scripture Reading
A Reading from Psalm 25
I offer my life to you, Lord.
My God, I trust you.
Please don’t let me be put to shame!
Don’t let my enemies rejoice over me!
For that matter,
don’t let anyone who hopes in you
be put to shame;
instead, let those who are treacherous without excuse be put to shame.
Make your ways known to me, Lord;
show me your paths.
Lead me in your truth—teach it to me—
because you are the God who saves me.
I put my hope in you all day long.
