The Daily Office | 4.13.16

We are in  the sixth week of Lent (or Holy Week), the season in the church calendar in which we prepare for the death of Christ on Good Friday and His Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Lent is a season marked by repentance, prayer, and fasting as we prepare our hearts for the Easter celebration to come.

This prayer (or Collect) and these scriptures are taken from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.

Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
