This Sunday we welcomed a long-time friend of The Parish, Christy Gordy, to share the story of her work with Canopy Life International. Christy is the Founder and Executive Director of this ministry, and she shares this morning the success and joy of its partnership with The Parish.

An excerpt from Christy’s message:

This letter is from Canopy Life, a mission of God in Kenya.

We are writing to God’s church, the Parish, and to all of his holy people throughout Alpharetta.

Every time we think of you, we give thanks to our God. Whenever we pray, we make our request for all of you with joy, for you have been our partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.
And I am certain that God, who began the good work here in you, will continue His work until it is finished.

So it is right that we should feel as we do about all of you, for you have a special place in our hearts.
You shared with us the special favor of God, both in our challenges and in spreading the Presence of God’s love on this earth.

God knows how much we love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus.

We pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.

For we want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation, the righteous character produced in your life by Christ – for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

As you know, you Parish-ites were the only ones who gave us financial help when we first brought you the mission and then traveled on from Georgia to Kenya. No other church did this. Even when we were in Kenya, you sent help more than once. We don’t say this because we want a gift from you. Rather, we want you to receive a reward for your kindness.

At the moment we have all we need – and more! We are generously supplied with the gifts you sent us (via monthly offerings). They are a sweet smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.

And this same God who takes care of us will supply all your needs form his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Give our greetings to each of God’s holy people, all who belong to Christ Jesus. The students and students who are here send you their greetings (Brian, Nelly, Japheth, Sara, Abbu and so many more) And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings too, especially those in class 6 and 7 who live on campus.

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your Spirit.
