Call to Worship:

Matthew 6:9-13

Jesus said, this is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory,
forever and ever,
Amen.

Song: Crown Him With Many Crowns & Revelation Song

Crown Him with many crowns!
  The lamb upon the throne:
Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns
  All music but its own!

Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee,
And hail him as thy matchless King
  Through all eternity

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
  Holy, holy is He
Sing a new song to Him who sits on
  Heaven’s mercy seat

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come!
With all creation I sing praise to the King of kings,
You are my everything and I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lighting rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and glory and power be
To You the only wise King

Filled with wonder awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power, breath and living water
  Such a marvelous mystery

Practice: Meditation on the Cross

Song: Seek First

Peace that passes, my understanding
Love that conquers, my fear and regret
Joy unending, eternal pleasure
In your presence, my risen King

I will seek first, Your Kingdom
I will seek first, Your righteousness
Everything I need, You will provide for me
My heart is to seek first Your Kingdom

You’re what I really want
  You’re all I really need
Father every breath I’ve got
You have given it to me

Scripture Readings: Isaiah 9:2-7 & Philippians 2:5-11

Isaiah 9:2-7

“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder. For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.
The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate
commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!”

Philippians 2:5-11

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature a God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Word of the Lord
Thanks be to God

A King & A Kingdom: As In Heaven (An Alternative Telos)

Confession & Assurance

Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor:

All:
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;

that we may delight in Your will,
and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your Name.
Amen.

Passing the Peace

Eucharist & Sacrament of Desire

Now let’s draw near in the presence of our Savior.

The Lord be with you!
And also with you.

Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

On the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
“This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way he took the cup saying,
“This cup is the new covenant sealed in my blood, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me.”

Is the Father with us?
He is.
Is Christ among us?
He is.
Is the Spirit here?
He is.

This is our God.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We are his people.
We are redeemed.

Therefore by taking this bread & drinking this cup, we proclaim the mystery of our faith:
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

These are the gifts of God for the People of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, And feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.

Alternatively, for those who are not receiving communion, the Sacrament of Desire may be prayed.

Sacrament of Desire

Now, in union, O Lord with the faithful at every altar of Your Church,
I present to You my soul and body
with the earnest prayer that I will remain united to you.
And since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
I pray that you would come to me spiritually.
I unite myself to you, and embrace you with my soul’s affection.
Let nothing separate me from you,
that I may live and die in Your love.
Amen.

Song: All Things Right

In a broken world, this will be our hope
Jesus is coming, your Kingdom is coming

We will sing these words
from the depth of our souls
Jesus is coming, your Kingdom is coming

Though walking in darkness,
we have seen a great light
The King has come, to set all things right

Emmanuel, God with us, heaven’s plan
Jesus is coming, your Kingdom is coming
Justice and peace, power and love, in our hands
Jesus is coming, your Kingdom is coming

And the government is on His shoulders
And His reign will ever increase
Wonderful counselor, Mighty God
  Eternal Father, Prince of Peace

The Cross of Christ

All our problems,
We send to the cross of Christ!

All our difficulties,
We send to the cross of Christ!

All the devil’s works,
We send to the cross of Christ!

All our hopes,
We set on the Risen Christ!

Blessing & Sending

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord,
Thanks be to God.
